In 2010, Dr Gaétan Lagneaux presented, in jest, the first vintage of a wine that he called a “vin d’enclos”, just as there are garage wines.
His surname and the reputation of the Pauillac terroir led him to try a new adventure.
Two plots, one in the hamlet of Mousset, the other at Parc de Pelon, mingled their precious soils with the frail roots of old vines, the sturdiest of which are sixty years old.
A winemaker who had been in love for several years with Château Petit Bocq in Saint-Estèphe, Dr Lagneaux let himself be seduced once more.
Harvested with extreme care, the grape berries are vinified in barrels of two hundred and twenty-five litres with staves of centuries-old French oak, and the wine is then received by new casks for ageing.
The result is a very rare nectar. Atypical in the very clear predominance of Merlot Noir, it is naturally rich in alcohol and its fruity fragrances marry with the complex, fully developed aromas. Production is confidential, with 3,500 bottles.
