The oldest land-register archives of Saint-Caprais-de-Bordeaux already reveal the existence of the Doyenné La Tour, the former name of Château Le Doyenné.
The Italian Renaissance-style architecture has given the estate the spirit of Tuscan villas. Its recent restoration has accentuated this very particular charm. Its park, where different species of trees stand side by side, some of them two hundred years old, offers a richness and diversity of landscapes rare in wine estates.
Straddling the communes of Saint-Caprais-de-Bordeaux and Camblanes, the Château Le Doyenné vineyard is located on hillsides with ample exposure to the sun. The proximity of the Garonne plays an essential role in the climatic balance favourable to growing vines.
The change of owner in 1994 was the occasion for a rigorous selection of plots. Some were replanted after major drainage work.
To guarantee a quality wine, Château Le Doyenné has equipped itself with the most efficient facilities: a well-insulated cellar with stainless steel vats of small individual capacity to vinify the different plots separately.
As in many renowned growths, automatic control and individual regulation of the temperature of each vat make it possible to master the whole fermentation process in optimal conditions.
The wine is aged in the great Bordeaux tradition: a four-week maceration with two pumping overs a day, then maturing in oak barrels renewed by a third each year.
The wine of Château Le Doyenné is characterised by its aromas of red and floral fruit; it is a fine and elegant wine.
