Château Latour Camblanes

Located in the commune of Camblanes, Château Latour Camblanes is nestled in the heart of the Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. Detached from Château La Tresne in 1801, it offers an uninterrupted view over the Garonne valley and is ideally located for growing vines. In fact, it seems that this privileged location was very quickly identified as a site particularly suited to the production of fine wines. Indeed, there are indications that the vineyard dates back to 1722. Acquired by the Castel family in the early 1980s, the Côtes de Bordeaux appellation certainly deserves the highest consideration. The quality of the terroir is truly exceptional. This is also true of Château Latour Camblanes. The vineyards are planted on fine clay-limestone slopes that are ideally oriented. Drainage is naturally very efficient. All these factors combine to produce perfectly ripe harvests in which the terroir expresses all its richness and potential. Since the property was taken over by the Castel family, the vineyard has tripled in size. Not surprisingly, major investments have been made to adapt and modernise the winery and barrel cellar. The gentle vinification process is designed to respect the delicate character of the grapes harvested on the estate. Barrel ageing is carried out with great moderation, so as not to alter the terroir qualities of the Château Latour Camblanes wines. Paul-Henri Parlange took charge of Château Latour Camblanes during the 2006 vintage. He is one of the youngest managers at Châteaux et Domaines Castel. Discreet, he strives to highlight the qualities of his terroir. But he also has a clear idea of what he wants for his own production. When asked what his ideal wine should be, his answer is: “fairly concentrated, with a beautiful, dense colour and a well-balanced, empyreumatic oak note”. Always striving for excellence, Paul Parlange is committed to helping this up-and-coming cru grow. Alain Raynaud, a Bordeaux specialist, is working with Paul-Henri Parlange on the maturing of Château Latour Camblanes.
