Editorial: The Primeurs, and what next?

Buoyed by a record Primeurs campaign, the Éditions Féret team continues its work of promoting the Bordeaux vineyard. Discover in this issue the news, initiatives and encounters that animate the industry.

The Bordeaux spring ends on a particularly encouraging note for the Éditions Féret.

Now that the Primeurs campaign has just ended, we wished to extend our sincere thanks to all the properties that placed their trust in us. For the third year running, Féret carried out a major Primeurs tasting campaign. This edition allowed us to assess 315 wines from 26 appellations, a record for our house.

These tastings were carried out through the collective appointments organised during the Primeurs week, during visits to the properties, but also thanks to a new initiative: the sending of samples directly to the Éditions Féret. We warmly thank the many châteaux that took part in this approach and helped enrich our coverage of the vintage.

We also extend our thanks to all the properties that relayed our tastings, our ratings and our publications. Year after year, we see that Féret’s presence at these great events of the Bordeaux vineyard naturally finds its place. This recognition encourages us to continue our development while remaining faithful to our first mission: promoting the Bordeaux vineyards and those who bring them to life.

For more than two centuries, Féret has observed, told and accompanied the history of the Bordeaux vineyard. Even today, our ambition remains the same: to shine a light on the properties, the terroirs and the women and men who shape Bordeaux. The Primeurs are one of the highlights of this mission, but certainly not the only one. We intend to continue our presence at the major events that punctuate the life of the vineyard throughout the year.

It is also in this spirit that we recently developed our website. Designed to offer greater visibility to properties and players in the industry, it demonstrates our wish to continue to showcase the Bordeaux vineyard in all its facets.

This same wish animates the articles we offer you in this new issue of La Lettre Féret: a reflection on promoting the Bordeaux AOC, the vineyard news for this month of June, the continuation of our historical series devoted to the châteaux of the Bordeaux region, a meeting with the watercolourist Élise Disclyn around Château Corbin, a focus offered by Inno’vin on the technical day Le Vin autrement, as well as a look at the Bordeaux Local operation showcased by Échos de Bordeaux.

Happy reading to all.
