Château Vieux Coutelin — already mentioned in the second edition of this work — owes its name to the place where it stands (Coutelin). The vineyard is bathed in a particularly favourable microclimate. The vinifications, traditional, focus on finesse rather than extraction (to avoid excessive tannins and/or pronounced bitterness), the wines being aged in oak casks, with a proportion of new oak (20%) that contributes to their subtle and suave oak character.
This growth, which stands out for its fine, delicate bouquet, reaches its peak between 4 and 7 years of age.
The You family bought this château in July 2013 in order to own two growths in the Médoc, in communal appellations, which moreover can be claimed as Crus Bourgeois.
