The 8-ha vineyard adjoins the Grands Crus Classés of the famous western plateau of Saint-Émilion, on sandy soils from wind-blown deposits, resting on an alios subsoil.
Its manager, Michel Terras, an agronomic engineer, carefully preserves a stock of old vines, with an average age of 45 years, made up of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cot or Malbec and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and strives to respect traditional vinification methods, while controlling his production with the best technological checks: hand harvest, total destemming, fermentation in concrete vats, 12 months’ ageing in barrels, 50% new. The wine produced on this estate has an intense colour and a tannic power balanced by a complex and deep bouquet, combining oaky notes and red fruit aromas, which evolves harmoniously towards a remarkable finesse and mellowness.
The great vintages reach their peak after 10 to 15 years.
