The estate

In brief

Château Vernous was created in 1868 and occupied during the last war. Its close neighbour is the bell tower of Saint-Trélody, and it admires the Médoc pines on the horizon.
The way the vine is cultivated respects the great Médoc traditions. Since 1990, high-performing technical means have been put in place: reconstruction of an ageing cellar with a capacity of 350 barrels, construction of a vinification and storage cellar equipped with temperature-controlled stainless steel vats and perfectly suited to the plot-by-plot vinifications that are essential to quality. Indeed, the harvest is taken to the vat room plot by plot, according to its ripeness and the age of the vines. Vinifications are carried out at 26/28 °C and macerations are prolonged for up to a month in order to extract the maximum of aromas and tannic richness. At the end of malolactic fermentation, the wine is taken to the ageing cellar for maturing in barrels.
Coming from the best terroirs of the vineyard, Château Vernous is a great wine for laying down. Each of the plots is vinified and aged separately in order to preserve their typicity. Each lot is then blended after tasting under the direction of M. Couasnon and the Pauillac laboratory. Rich and complex, the wine represents a good balance between fruit and oak.
