Established in the commune since 1925, the Miailhe family has made its mark as one of the eminent and unavoidable winegrowing families, first with Louis, then Jean and finally Éric. First brokers, then winegrowers, the members of this family have been in the Bordeaux wine trade for two centuries.
Unlike many growths of the Gironde, the origins and history of Château Soudars are not lost in a more or less distant past. Soudars is the result of a consolidation of several plots and the fruit of relentless work begun in 1973.
At that time, Éric Miailhe acquired 15 hectares at the place called Soudar; it was nothing but wasteland, mostly clay-limestone, cluttered with tonnes of large stones, brambles and other undesirable plants.
Today, Château Soudars forms a very fine vineyard of about twenty hectares.
Its production is vinified in a modern stainless steel vat room and, of course, aged in barrels. The wines of Château Soudars are recommended for their elegance, aromas, fruitiness and roundness and are considered among the most representative growths of the A.O.C. Haut-Médoc.
