Château Mondorion

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru • 13 HA

The estate

In brief

The commune of Saint Sulpice de Faleyrens, which, on the road to Castillon, brushes Saint-Émilion with the tip of its bell tower, is flanked by a small hill where the rows of vines line up as if on parade. On the gentle slopes of this place known as Mondou, 13 ha encircle the cellar of a château which, since its takeover and rebirth in 2000, has taken the name Mondorion.
Thibault Cruse continues the rehabilitation work on this estate, begun by the previous owners, whose terroir, made up of a single entity, has the harmonious personality of crus of its class. That of the typical Saint-Émilion Grands Crus, produced from a large share of Merlot on a soil of sand-gravel lightness, with a layer of alios in the subsoil, naturally drained, where the old Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines draw all the elements essential to give a wine whose fruitiness and feminine velvetiness round out around a framework of rare elegance.
Taking advantage of equipment that is both entirely new and revolutionary, the management team imposes a particular style for wines with a balanced, integrated and concentrated substance
One will respect their distinction and enjoy this wine which, when young, already delivers an exquisite substance behind which the contours of a wine for laying down can be glimpsed.
