The estate

In brief

Château Lamothe is a residence whose foundations date back to the 16th century. Its renovation in the 19th century made it a house full of charm, whose façade is reproduced on the label.
The Néel-Chombart family has owned it since 1956 and has been committed to making quality wines, which are sold directly, 20% in France and 80% abroad.
Château Manos is a neighbouring property run by the Neel-Chombart family, which also markets the wines from these vineyards, a red Côtes de Bordeaux and a sweet white Cadillac.
Development works have made it possible to use former stone quarries to create two underground cellars for storing bottles or ageing in barrels. These cellars combine ideal storage qualities with a spectacular side for visiting the galleries at a depth of 60 m.
Direct selling involves a great deal of travel, but also many receptions at Château Lamothe for very loyal customers.
All this rests on the constant care given to cultivating the vines planted on the hillsides of clay-limestone soils, on extreme vigilance regarding the health of the grapes and on very careful vinification.
The red wines have a deep, intense colour and a complex nose of red fruit. Some cuvées are aged in barrels to obtain supple, subtly balanced wines.
The dry white wines are remarkable for their fruitiness and roundness, and new plantings are planned almost every year to meet constantly growing demand.
The sweet wines are renowned for their finesse, combining the scents of exotic fruit with a sweetness lifted by a touch of acidity.
The efforts made over 50 years have made Château Lamothe known with a very solid international reputation.
