Château La Ribaud came about through the merger, in the early 1960s, of two estates: that of Château de France with that of Château La Ribaud, following the union of two families.
Vinification in the old family cellars benefits from long family experience combined with the skills of a renowned oenologist. Concerned to adapt to the demands of today’s consumers while respecting the original character of their product, the Audebert family combines modern techniques of vine growing and wine ageing with the know-how that has been passed down to them.
Each year, production varies between 1200 and 1400 hl of wine, aged for the most part in vats (intended for the négociant trade) and the remainder in oak barrels (intended for private customers).
Traditional vinification and a long vatting period before running off produce fairly low acidities that give round, agreeable wines with volume and a great deal of balance. They are harmonious, subtle and flavoursome. They have great finesse and age surprisingly well.
The wines are as pleasant to taste young as they are surprising in their evolution and longevity.
The Audebert vineyards also farm 1.5 hectares in the Haut-Médoc A.O.C., which offers a wine rich in tannins, ample on the palate and lightly oaky thanks to slow ageing in oak casks.
