The estate

In brief

The commune of Jau-Dignac-et-Loirac was one of the communes of the Médoc most affected by the economic and wine crises: the vine had practically disappeared there. In 1977, Yvan Roux, himself a pure product of the Médoc, decided to revive a few very fine plots of free-draining gravel, which had formerly enjoyed an excellent wine-growing reputation. His daughter then took up the torch, to keep enriching the family know-how allied to this formidable terroir: Michèle Roux joined as a partner in 1983.
Efforts are thus constantly maintained to optimise the expression of the vines replanted over the years: the vat room was doubled in 2000, the storage cellar completed, and a fine tasting room opened in May 2006. As an anecdote, the name of this growth is literally a fine pirouette: not only does “la pirouette” actually appear in the land register, but it is also a high-school movement in horse riding. As Mme Roux also breeds horses and rides, it was quite natural for her to opt for the depiction of a horse on the label of Château La Pirouette.
Today, this growth offers wines of consistent quality, testifying to a harvest carried out at perfect ripeness and showing melted tannins that reveal themselves immediately, on the nose, with notes of blackcurrant and liquorice.
