Château la Commanderie de Queyret

Entre-deux-Mers • 105 HA

The estate

In brief

The origins of La Commanderie de Queyret go back to the early 13th century, when the Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem, a very powerful military and religious order, founded their Commandery there.
The residence of the Commanders stood on the site of the estate; hence its name.
This family property, handed down by inheritance for two centuries, has doubled in size since 1968.
Located on the best terroirs of the communes of Saint-Antoine-du-Queyret, Mauriac and Soussac, the estate covers an area of 105 hectares, of which 84 are devoted to red wine production and 21 to white wine production.
After destemming, there is a vatting period of about 25 days with automatic temperature regulation, followed by ageing in vats and new barrels. The red wines obtained are well balanced, fine on the palate, with a delicious bouquet, and rich in tannins to allow long ageing.
A 15-day fermentation at 18 °C to retain all the fragrances, earth filtration and cold stabilisation at -5 °C before bottling to avoid tartaric precipitation make it possible to obtain scented white wines, extremely fruity but without greenness, fresh and light, to be drunk in the fifth year.
The present owners, M. and Mme Claude Comin, through their work and the vigilant care given to vinification, have succeeded in creating one of the finest estates in the Entre-deux-Mers.
