Château Hyot was a site of the confrontation which, in 1453, ended the Hundred Years’ War between the French and the English, at the battle of Castillon.
Owned by Jean-Abel Faure until 2000, this cru now belongs to his daughter Bernadette, wife of Alain Aubert. Bordering the Saint-Émilion appellation, Château Hyot extends its vineyard over the commune of Saint-Magne de Castillon and thus benefits from the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation.
Thanks to this particular situation, its terroir – clayey in the western part, gravelly in the eastern part of the estate – and its Merlot-dominant grape varieties, Château Hyot produces wines with a fine colour, round, of great finesse with firm terroir character allowing long ageing.
Château Hyot is part of the Alain Aubert vineyards, with Châteaux Ribebon and de Macard in Bordeaux Supérieur, German in Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux and Haut Gravet in Saint-Émilion Grand Cru.
