Located on the highest hillside in the region, Château Haut-Mazeris commands a splendid vineyard, which produces one of the best wines of the appellation. The vines face due south, which allows them to benefit from good sunshine, essential to encourage the ripening of the grapes.
This family estate for four generations is run by Mme Ubald-Bocquet, who gives the vines the most attentive care. Her daughter Capucine has joined her since 2002 in order to take over.
She called on Jean-Luc Thunevin to further improve the quality of the wine through his advice.
Vinification is carried out under the supervision of a renowned oenologist. Bottling takes place at the estate. Everything is done here to seek the best possible wine; these efforts were noticed by various connoisseurs from the tasting of the 2003 vintage (rated 91/93 by Robert Parker, 8/10 by Bettane et Desseauve, 15.5/20 in Le Point, 16/20 by J.-M. Quarin, 89/91 in Wine Spectator and 18/20 in Weinwisser).
A few rows of a vine more than a hundred years old, planted in 1902, remain.
