Château Haut-Guiraud

Overlooking the Gironde, Château Haut-Guiraud offers a limitless panorama. Just after the confluence of the Dordogne and the Garonne, the protective river provides a quite particular microclimate and encircles the nearby islands. In the distance, the Médoc and the estuary complete this typical landscape of the Côtes de Bourg vineyard.
Haut-Guiraud is a family estate steeped in history; five generations of men of the craft have succeeded one another on its land over three centuries. In 1876, the Grimards, winegrowers and coopers, began this long saga; Christophe Bonnet, their worthy heir, succeeded his father Jean, knowing how to preserve a privileged knowledge of the place and the terroir.
A reflection of this exceptional terroir, the multiplicity of soils, clay-limestone here, clay-sand or gravel-clay there, combined with a judicious choice of grape varieties, gives the wines their unique character and complexity so appreciated by the most demanding connoisseurs. Thanks to the microclimate and the good use of current techniques, the “bad year” is unknown to this winegrower, who is convinced that nature has put in his hands a treasure that he must respect.
The blends, the fruit of the long experience handed down at Château Haut Guiraud, ensure the enjoyment of the enthusiast, the culmination of so many daily efforts.
As he walks around, the visitor will discover a cellar with an old-fashioned air, all authenticity and simplicity, yet knowing how to use the techniques of the present day… Struck by the landscapes, at a time when speed and performance take precedence, far from fashions and the spirit of the times, he will remain under the spell of the place and of a way of life in which tradition is not an empty word.
Christophe Bonnet also runs Château Castaing in the same commune, as well as Château Haute-Tuilerie in Berson in the AOC Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux.
