From a family that has come from Saint-Émilion since at least the beginning of the 17th century and owner of Château Grand Corbin-Despagne, François Despagne and his wife Murielle invested in Côtes de Castillon in 1999, convinced of the strong qualitative potential of this terroir.
Passionate about the vine and therefore about ampelology, they wished to pay it homage by calling their wine Château Ampélia, which is not a cuvée but comes from the blend of plots of their estate.
All the stages in the making of a great Bordeaux wine are carried out, in the vineyard through green work and in the cellar through plot-by-plot vinification and 100% barrel ageing. In addition, a reflection on environmentally friendly practices has been initiated to produce a wine from sustainable farming. Since 2010, the vineyard has been run under organic farming certified by Agrocert.
