On the map by Belleyme, the King’s geographer-engineer, published during the reign of Louis XV, the vines of Fourcas appear. Formerly the Roulet growth, it was in 1843 that Maître Jean-Antoine-Baptiste Dupré, solicitor at the Court of Appeal of Bordeaux, became the buyer of the vineyard. 1844 would be the true birth certificate of Château Fourcas Dupré.
The cellars, the estate buildings and the château were entirely renovated. Since then, this leading position has never been belied; today a new, high-performing and functional vat room, and suitable storage and packaging cellars complement the original ones. The château is owned by a family company run by Patrice Pagès.
The Château Fourcas Dupré vineyard is located on a rise of Pyrenean gravel at an altitude of 42 metres. It is in a single block with an average density of 8,500 vines. Today everything is done (drained vineyard, controlled yields…) to express the typicity of this unique terroir.
In pursuit of a perfectly ripe harvest, the cellar master strives to express the personality of the 4 grape varieties that make up the wine of Château Fourcas Dupré through the use of an entirely temperature-controlled vat room. Ageing in barrels, renewed by a third each year, perfects the balance of each vintage.
Château Fourcas Dupré is also a member of the Académie du vin de Bordeaux, the Union des Grands Crus and the Commanderie du Bontemps Médoc Graves Sauternes et Barsac.
