Château l’Ermitage was created in 1953 by M. Roger Thomas, great-uncle of the current operators.
In 1981, Christian Thomas succeeded his father Georges, and his children Mathieu and Audrey now have the pleasure of running this fine estate.
Until 1985 its area was limited, but since then the vineyard has grown to reach eight hectares. In 1990, it was recognised as a Cru Bourgeois du Médoc and, accordingly, it joined the Cru Bourgeois du Médoc syndicate.
Today the area farmed is 10 hectares, where plots more than 60 years old are being grubbed up in order to replant with plants from a massal selection of old vines. Vinification and ageing receive the same care as château Reverdi, another Cru Bourgeois of the Thomas vineyards.
