Château Tour Sieujean has a fine family history: taken over in the 1920s by the great-grandparents of Mme Lopez, then replanted in 1960 by her father M. Arnaud, the estate was taken over in 1980 by M. and Mme Lopez. They were joined in 2002 by M. Chaumont, who married Miss Lopez and brought his great technical expertise in viticulture.
The cru moved from the cooperative to the family cellar, and significant investments have been made in recent years to support a strong quality drive. All the equipment and machinery are modern, from the recently installed cellar with fine stainless steel vats to the newly acquired grape harvester. Proud of the family dimension of their estate, M. and Mme Lopez, with their daughter and son-in-law, like to tend their 5 hectares of vines in the Pauillac A.O.C. “like their own garden”. Each stage, from soil work to the ageing of the wine, is carried out with the greatest care: leaf removal, green harvesting, ageing in barrels (60% of which are new)… are all crucial steps that have made Château Tour Sieujean the great wine it has become.
Thanks to this daily work, respectful of the land and its fruit, a cru of very good standard is achieved even in less favourable years. Château Tour Sieujean is both fruity and aromatic, pleasant to drink within 4-5 years while offering fine power for lovers of wines for laying down.
