The estate

In brief

Château Pédesclaux was created at the beginning of the 19th century by M. Urbain Pierre Pédesclaux, wine broker in Bordeaux. The vineyard was formed by bringing together plots from different estates such as Grand Puy Lacoste and the Domaines de Pontet-Canet. The estate, recognised for the quality of its wines, became a Grand Cru Classé in 1855.
In 1892, the Pédesclaux family parted with the estate and sold it to the Count de Gastebois, who entrusted its running to Lucien Jugla, established for many years in the Médoc. When he died in 1965, his children took over, and eventually sold the property in 2009 to Jacky and Françoise Lorenzetti, whose aim was then to awaken this sleeping beauty. Drawing on the best terroirs of Pauillac and thanks to the ambition of the new owners, the technical team carried out important groundwork (sustainable cultivation practices, deep soil work, berry tasting, harvesting at full ripeness and gravity-fed vinification methods), which enabled the château to return to wines expressing the exceptional potential of its terroirs.
To consolidate these new foundations, Jacky and Françoise Lorenzetti decided to rebuild all of the technical facilities. They entrusted this mission to Jean-Michel Wilmotte in order to assert the renewal of this growth of unique potential.
