The Clos Jean vineyard has been held by the same family since 1799. The earliest writings found go back to the 16th century and provide the explanation of its name: “Clau-Jan” means “land given to the son Jan, surrounded by woods (enclosed by the woods)”.
The estate, located in the centre of the Loupiac appellation, overlooks the Garonne valley and offers visitors a unique panorama. The house, typical of the 19th century, has a pediment with 17th-century sculptures recounting the story of “Jan the First”.
Very many technical investments are made each year (viticultural and winemaking equipment, communication equipment); new modern storage buildings (air-conditioned, to the new standards) have recently been built, and were doubled in size during 2001.
