The estate

In brief

Château Pontac-Gadet is the fruit of persistent and passionate work, no longer based on the reputation of an appellation, but on meticulous daily efforts to improve quality and care for the environment.

Château Pontac-Gadet is made and shaped with a constant concern for quality. The vineyard is situated on a ridge of ancient gravel of Günzian origin which, because of its poverty and permeability, is a factor in the quality of great wines. The vines surround the château. The climate is ideal for producing high quality grapes. A light breeze and plenty of sunshine ensure that the grapes are healthy and ripe, and every vine in every plot of this beautiful vineyard is pampered and respected throughout the year. This allows the terroir to produce its very best, giving Château Pontac-Gadet its charm and finesse. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot give it power and elegance. Each step is important, carried out with great respect for Médoc tradition and inspired by the latest modern techniques. Barrel ageing underlines the beauty of this product of the vine. It is these gestures of passion, craftsmanship and talent that have made the reputation of Château Pontac Gadet.

It regularly wins awards in competitions (gold medal at Mâcon and Paris in 2007 for the 2005 vintage) and is listed in guides such as the Hachette guide. The wine is sold directly in France to delicatessens, wine shops, restaurants, discerning consumers and for export (Europe). Mr and Mrs Briolais own Château Haut-Mousseau in the Bourgeais region.
