Château Pindefleurs

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

The estate

In brief

Château Pindefleurs is part of the Saint-Émilion vineyard, of which it is the perfect exaltation. It was first marked by the seal of brilliant and renowned personalities: Antoine de Sèze was mayor of Saint-Émilion in 1625, while one of his descendants, Romain, a celebrated barrister at the Parlement of Bordeaux, distinguished himself during the Revolution by defending Louis XVI alongside Malesherbes. As for the deputy Adolphe Charoulet, the estate owes him its first gold medal in 1907. Château Pindefleurs then belonged to Micheline Dior, cousin of the great couturier, before being bought in 2006 by Dominique Lauret, whose Mestreguilhem family owns Château Pipeau, a neighbouring grand cru.
The present 15 hectares of Château Pindefleurs benefit today from a thirty-year-old vineyard combining Merlot and Cabernet planted in a clay-limestone soil with a predominance of gravel. The estate makes use of the most modern vinification techniques: sustainable phytosanitary treatments, green harvesting, early leaf removal, gentle maceration in isothermal temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, frequent pumping-overs, traditional vertical pressing, ageing in oak barrels renewed every year, racking every 3 months, etc.
Passed down from one generation of enthusiasts to the next, a strong and authentic bond ties Dominique Lauret, its owner, to Château Pindefleurs. She makes a wine particularly well named, for the powerful bouquet it offers and the happy marriage between body and delicacy. Thickness and refinement, strength and finesse are in balance. The complex aroma is punctuated with lasting touches of well-ripened red berries. Drunk young, Château Pindefleurs bursts with fruity freshness. Kept in the cellar, it unfolds a long and silky palate typical of the grands crus of Saint-Émilion.
