In 1850, the vineyard of Château Petit-Faurie-de-Soutard was detached from the large Soutard estate, from which it takes part of its name. The history of this cru is also linked to Faurie, the name of the place that was the scene of a famous battle of the Hundred Years’ War.
It adjoins Château Soutard to the south and west, and neighbours Château Balestard la Tonnelle. Going back to its earliest origins, it has always been ranked among the great crus of Saint-Émilion.
The average annual production of this cru is 35 tonneaux.
The many awards obtained, notably Brussels 1897, Paris 1900, Liège 1905, Ghent 1913, Lyon 1914, only confirm its well-deserved reputation.
M. Capdemourlin and his son also manage Château Cap de Mourlin and Château Balestard La Tonnelle, both Grands Crus Classés of Saint-Émilion, and Château Roudier in the Montagne-Saint-Émilion AOC.
