The estate

In brief

Located near the church of Lalande-de-Pomerol, built in the 12th century by the Hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, Château Perron, which dates from 1645, is one of the oldest properties in the commune.
22.05 hectares of vines on a sand-gravel plateau resting on iron residues give an annual harvest of 100 to 120 tonneaux, or about 150,000 bottles.
The grape varieties are Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the harvest is by hand, and vinification is traditional with a vatting of 3 to 4 weeks.
All the wines of Château Perron age in oak casks and are remarkable for their delicacy and distinction. A pronounced scent of violet gives them a very particular bouquet.
Numerous gold and silver medals (notably in Paris in 1878) testify to the often exceptional quality of this cru. A winner of the I.N.A.O. competition “Cuvée du Cinquantenaire”, Château Perron was chosen to represent the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation.
The Massonie family also produces in the A.O.C. Lalande-de-Pomerol Perron la Fleur, Pierrefitte and the cuvées Clos de Malte and La Valette.
Château Perron La Fleur, the top cuvée, represents the typicity of the family estate par excellence. It is the fruit of joint work between two generations of winegrowers. This wine has benefited from the best care in the choice of the various blends and from its ageing in 100% new oak casks.
It allows the qualities of Merlot ripened on a terroir of excellence to be fully expressed. The feminine roundness of Château Perron La Fleur lets one appreciate the quality of fruit harvested at full ripeness. A very pronounced scent of violet and clove gives it a delicate bouquet, which complements the complexity of the substance, as well as a deep ruby colour.
Château Perron La Fleur can be enjoyed throughout its development, and will delight the finest palates, with its primary, secondary and tertiary aromas alike.
