The Delon family, owners of the Médoc châteaux Léoville Las Cases and Potensac, acquired Château Nénin from their cousins Despujol in 1997, so that Nénin has remained in the same family since 1840. The current estate covers 34 hectares, 32 of which are planted with vines, and boasts a fine 19th-century residence.
The vineyard (80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc) is planted on a gravel and clay terroir on the southern slopes of the Pomerol plateau, a privileged location whose ideal exposure allows the grapes to ripen perfectly.
As a result, Nénin, a great Pomerol wine, full-bodied, fragrant, flavoursome, intense on the palate, full-bodied and supple, with an elegance all its own, is a wine that you have to wait to enjoy to the full. In 1997, the Delon family created another wine, Fugue de Nénin, to maintain the quality level of the grand vin and, as a result of rigorous parcel-by-parcel vinification. This immediately seductive wine also has ageing potential and foreshadows the qualities of the grand vin.
