The estate

In brief

Château Moulinet is one of the most important and longest-known estates of Pomerol. It lay on the route taken in the 13th century by the Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem. A stone marked with the Maltese Cross is visible in the château’s park, indicating the knights’ resting place.
It now belongs to the G.F.A. du Domaine de Moulinet, of which Mme Marie-Josée Moueix and Nathalie Moueix-Guillot are the managers.
The vineyard is located on the northern slope of the Pomerol plateau. Its soil is composed of gravel and old sands. Its area, in a single block, is 18 hectares, with a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. This particularly well-tended vineyard has an average age of 24 years.
Vinification takes place in stainless steel vats. Ageing is in oak barrels (100% new wood). Bottling takes place 18 months after the harvest.
Stéphane Derenoncourt has been consultant to the estate since the 2009 vintage. Didier Peytour has run the estate since 2010.
