The estate
On the southern edge of the village of Saint-Émilion, Château Moulin-Saint-Georges spreads its vines over the limestone hillside opposite Château Ausone. This estate has been cultivating the art of precision and patience under the Vauthier family since 1921. Nestling in a landscape of stone and vines, it embodies the quiet elegance that is typical of the grand crus of the plateau.
A terroir shaped by stone and time
The 7-hectare vineyard lies on clay-limestone soils typical of the heart of Saint-Émilion. The presence of the Fongaban stream ensures natural drainage, while the west-facing aspect favours slow, even ripening. The old mill from which the estate takes its name is a reminder of the area’s long history of viticulture and craftsmanship.
Blend and style
The grape varieties, dominated by Merlot (85%) and complemented by Cabernet Franc (15%), strike a balance between roundness and tension. The vines, which are worked to the highest standards, are cultivated using sustainable methods, with every gesture aimed at preserving the life of the soil: grassing down, gentle pruning, manual harvesting and rigorous parcel selection.
A true expression of limestone
Dense, precise and vibrant, Moulin-Saint-Georges expresses the softness of ripe Merlot planted on gentle clay-limestone slopes. Its polished tannins and long finish reveal a complex wine of remarkable elegance and great ageing potential.
A confidential estate, a philosophy
Under the direction of the Vauthier family, Moulin-Saint-Georges continues the family tradition with an artisanal and introspective approach. Here, time passes to the rhythm of the vine, in a constant dialogue between man, the land, the stone and the Saint-Émilion vines. This is a place where wine is shaped as much as it is contemplated.
