The estate

In brief

Château Malescasse was created at the beginning of the 19th century by the Renouil family, who ensured its development. The vineyard was notably enlarged in 1855 and 1856 through successive purchases of properties and plantings on the finest rises of the commune, made up solely of ancient Günz gravel. The family had the residence built on the highest point of the commune of Lamarque. In 1887 the property passed into the hands of the Pineguy family, a judge at Castelnau, who renovated the cellars and fitted them out to perfect the making of the wines. Thus, from the end of the 19th century, Malescasse was recognised as one of the best Crus Bourgeois Supérieurs of the Médoc in the 1932 classification.
Continuously improved since then, Château Malescasse was bought in 1979 by the owners of Crus Classés of 1855, who ensure its qualitative continuity.
In 1992, Alcatel Alsthom acquired it and carried out major refurbishment work there, in order to affirm this continuity.
Its wines are aged in the strictest tradition and bottled at the château after ageing in oak barrels and care adapted to the demands of the vintage.
