The estate

In brief

Château Magnol has always enjoyed an excellent reputation. In 1842, its owner, Mr Théodore Delisse, an experienced agronomist, restored the estate to its former glory. In 1973, Barton et Guestier acquired the estate and made major investments in both the vineyards and the cellars. Today, 30 hectares of vines stretch over a sandy gravel terroir at the gateway to the Médoc. The wine-making process, which is extremely meticulous, benefits from the latest techniques as well as the benefits of tradition, since the wine is matured for twelve months in 350-litre Merrain oak barrels. Château Magnol has been classified as a Cru Bourgeois since 1979. It has won numerous international medals and awards, including a mention by Robert Parker (USA) in his Bordeaux wine guide, ‘Recommended’ status from Decanter Magazine in the UK for the 2010 and 2011 vintages, a bronze medal at the International Wine Challenge in 2014, and an 89 rating from Andreas Larsson, the world’s best sommelier, in a blind tasting.

Château Magnol is also home to Barton & Guestier’s head office, its wine school, the Barton & Guestier Food & Wine Academy, and a guest house where the company’s customers enjoy a special welcome.
