This estate belonged for many generations to the Nadeau family, who sold the wine under the name Clos Valentin.
In 1973, having no descendants, the Nadeau family sold it to their cousin, Bernard Leydet. It became Château Leydet-Valentin in 1983 when it entered the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation, which he obtains every year for the whole harvest. Then in 1992 a second wine was born, called Château Saint-Valentin.
