The estate

In brief

Jean-Paul Roland is a passionate winegrower. He took over this estate in 1973 with his wife Brigitte. The choice of Les Granges de Civrac was not made by chance. This cru, listed in the oldest wine editions, has always been counted among the Crus Bourgeois of the commune since the beginning of the 19th century. It long remained the property of the Meynieu family, as our oldest editions testify, and was then passed to the Coucharrière family. Run without interruption, it came through all the vicissitudes of the 20th century, by virtue of the recognised quality of its wines, until its takeover.
At first Jean-Paul Roland had his grapes vinified by the Saint-Brice cooperative cellar, then gradually he made the investments necessary to make his wines himself.
After some twenty years of patient work, he has won a loyal clientele who recognise in Château les Granges de Civrac the typicity of the great wines of the Médoc.
A shrewd and prudent manager, he never stops investing. He has successively acquired new estates. The E.A.R.L. des Granges de Civrac also runs Château Beyzac in the commune of Vertheuil and, more recently, Château Haut-Laborde in Saint-Estèphe. His daughter Aude joined him in the 2000s and thus reinforces the family strategy of development undertaken for more than forty years.
