In 1460, this property was part of the lordship of Loirac. The heirs succeeded one another until 1911, when Marguerite Cruon gave it to Paul Meynieu, great-grandfather of Francis Ducos, who became owner in 1983. In February 2011, his family, Madame Brigitte Ducos and her two sons, sold 100% of the property to the CEO of the luxury group Tesiro and deputy director of the Chinese Association of Jewellers, Mr Shen Dongjun (Richard), a wine enthusiast. Following this purchase, Mr Shen will remain in charge of high-quality production, with the implementation of his current investment projects.
Located on a fine gravel rise in a single block, the vineyard enjoys a privileged position. This exceptional terrain of deep gravel, combined with a temperate climate, are all assets for the estate. Quality-focused measures have been undertaken on the property for many years: grass cover, leaf removal, green harvests…
Traditional vinifications are carried out in modern cellars fully equipped with stainless steel vats; after 20 to 25 days of maceration, the wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.
Château Laulan Ducos has been awarded 27 medals in ten years (competitions of Paris, Bordeaux, Blaye and Mâcon), and the 2000 vintage was rated a remarkable wine by the Guide Hachette des Vins de France, which awarded it a coup de cœur.
With a growing reputation, the estate produces elegant wines with strong typicity in the purest tradition.
