The estate

In brief

The château Lamothe Guignard estate is located on one of the best gravel-clay rises in the commune of Sauternes.
Overlooking the Ciron valley, it benefits from the microclimate essential for obtaining the botrytised, sun-roasted grapes that give a wine highly reputed and sought after for its sap and elegance.
Known in 1814 as Lamothe d’Assault, this property had a troubled destiny and passed through many hands before being divided into several parts.
The largest part was acquired in 1981 by Philippe and Jacques Guignard, who have devoted particular care to it, both in the choice of grape varieties and the cultivation of the vines, and in the vinification and barrel ageing of the wines.
Philippe and Jacques Guignard also make a dry white Graves and a red Graves: Clos du Hez, whose vines (3.5 hectares) are located in the commune of Pujols-sur-Ciron, with white varieties planted 50% Sémillon and 50% Sauvignon and red varieties planted 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wines of château Lamothe Guignard and Clos du Hez come from a selection of the best cuvées.
