Château La Marzelle, of very ancient origin, was attached to the abbey of Faize from the 12th to the 17th century.
La Marzelle has the same geological base as its prestigious neighbours, Figeac, Cheval Blanc and Pétrus, formed two million years ago in the old bed of the Isle : the Haute Terrasse of Saint-Émilion.
Gravel, reddened pebbles, clays and sands make up the different plots, around the Grand Barrail hotel.
Since 1998, the new owners have done everything to position this Cru Classé among the best of the appellation.
Quality viticulture, very respectful of the environment (ISO 14001 standard), has been put in place. Here, the vine is cultivated like a garden.
In the cellar, the same care is applied to respect the grapes and the wine as much as possible. Cutting-edge techniques are used to produce a wine of remarkable finesse, precision, body and bouquet.
La Marzelle now enjoys a great international reputation.
