The estate

In brief

The Dubard family bought the estate from the Berry family in 2008. It was then called “Le Clos de l’Église”. The takeover of this estate came with the idea of optimising the technical skills acquired over the years by the Dubard family and its team. This new project immediately raised a great deal of enthusiasm within the team, so stimulating was it to compose wines on such a high-quality terroir and with a prestigious appellation.
Following a court decision in 2010, the name was changed, and the Dubard family chose “Château la Croix Romane” in homage to the richness of local history. The church of Lalande de Pomerol, very close to the estate and built in the 12th century, is indeed Romanesque in style. It was erected under the aegis of the Hospitallers of St John of Jerusalem (Knights of Malta), an order whose Maltese cross has remained emblematic in the Libournais.
Numerous investments have been undertaken: replanting of gaps in the vineyard, installation of temperature control in the vats, renewal of the harvest reception equipment, renewal of the barrel stock.
