The estate

In brief

The Château Haut-Madrac vineyard covers 20 hectares of gravelly slopes in the commune of Saint Sauveur, adjacent to Pauillac. The vines here are carefully tended to allow them to express the unity and diversity of both their terroirs and the grape varieties they contain: 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The grapes are harvested by hand and the wine is made in the facilities of neighbouring Château Lynch-Moussas, which has been owned by the Casteja family for almost 100 years. The wine is aged for 15 to 18 months in barrels (20-30% new). As with Lynch-Moussas, the consultant oenologist is Denis Dubourdieu, and the beautifully-coloured wines combine bouquet, body and finesse.
