Château Haut Breton Larigaudière

Château Haut Breton Larigaudière, a pretty Médoc estate surrounded by a park, is located in the commune of Soussans, one of the five communes entitled to the Margaux appellation contrôlée. At the beginning of the 20th century, this château was already classified as a Cru Bourgeois.
The arrival of the de Schepper family remains an important stage in the history of the estate and of the family, and represents a springboard for their future strategy. Indeed, it was under the plane trees of the park at Soussans that Émile de Schepper’s two sons became fully aware of the value of Margaux appellation wines and of the growth these crus were to experience in the years ahead. From then on, everything was done to restore to this property all its former lustre.
Today, under the impetus of Jean-Michel Garcion, the estate manager, with all the men and women who work there, Château Haut Breton Larigaudière gives the full expression of its terroir and is a worthy representative of the Crus Bourgeois du Médoc. It is a source of emotion and shared happiness.
From the 2000 vintage, and only in outstanding years, it was decided to make an exceptional cuvée from a plot selection, named “Le Créateur” in homage to Émile de Schepper, who bought the estate in 1964 and was at the origin of its renewal. “Le Créateur” is, moreover, the literal translation of the family name De Schepper, a name of Flemish origin.
“Le Créateur” reflects a continuous and tireless quest for perfection in the face of the personality of a harvest. Its production rests on a predominance of old Cabernet Sauvignon vines, aged 100% in new barrels for 18 months. “Le Créateur” is the aim of pleasure in all the greatness of wine!
Château Haut Breton Larigaudière has been particularly appreciated by the Belgian Royal House since 2005. The 2000 vintage was, among other occasions, served at the wedding dinner of Prince Laurent and Princess Claire in 2003.
