After four years of research into the finest terroirs in Bordeaux, the story of Vitis Vintage began at this property, on the ancient sandy soil at the foot of Saint-Émilion, which gives the vines extraordinary aromatic potential. In 2001, a modern, sober winery was built to allow the terroir to express itself to the full. 2006 saw the arrival of a new agricultural yard and a new air-conditioned bottling cellar: new technical resources to optimise the quality of the wines.
The viticultural policy has also been reviewed, with regularly worked soils, little or no use of chemicals, a new planting density of 7,500 vines per hectare instead of 5,000 vines per hectare, and rigorous plot monitoring – all to enable the terroir to express its full potential and produce quality grapes. This nectar, the very essence of Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, is the perfect embodiment of “the senses of terroir”.
