The estate

In brief

Château Gazin Rocquencourt, whose origins go back to the Middle Ages, was founded in the 17th century and is known as one of the oldest estates in the parish.
A historic property of Pessac-Léognan, it was cited by the Féret as early as 1874 for the quality of its wines and of its terroir, located on a superb gravel rise in Léognan. The elders were not mistaken in planting the first vines there as early as 1660.
The estate was first cited there under the name château Gazen et Bourbon, then château Gazin until 1995, when it took its present name, château Gazin-Rocquencourt.
Located on a splendid rise of dry gravel on the left bank of the Eau Blanche in Léognan, the property covers 28 hectares, 22 of which are vines in the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Its very fine topography, with a constant and regular slope, contributes to natural drainage of the plots.
Bought in February 2006 by the Bonnie family, owners of château Malartic-Lagravière (Grand Cru Classé de Graves), the estate entered a new era. The château was restored in its green setting of a magnificent park.
All the know-how of the Malartic teams was brought to bear in order to equip the property with the best possible infrastructure. The new, entirely gravity-fed cellars have been in operation since 2007. The gradual restructuring of the vineyard, completed in 2013, has made it possible to bring out the superb gravel terroir of Gazin Rocquencourt, whose immense potential has not escaped the experts. In 2010, the white Gazin-Rocquencourt was born. The entire vineyard has been certified for sustainable farming since 2008.
Thus bringing together ideal conditions, château Gazin-Rocquencourt ranks among the jewels of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, in white as well as in red.
