The estate

In brief

Château Gazin is a former estate of the Hospitaliers de Saint-Jean-de-Jérusalem, de Rhodes et de Malte, now owned by the de Bailliencourt dit Courcol family since 1917. The estate, located on the eastern plateau of Pomerol, covers 26 hectares in a single block. The 24-hectare vineyard, the largest of the Pomerol Grands Crus, is planted with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Viticulture and vinification methods combine tradition and modernity to produce top-quality wines of international renown: pruning, manual harvesting, crop selection, temperature control and fermentation in cement vats. After malolactic fermentation in barrels, the wines are matured in casks. Château Gazin produces around 90,000 bottles of a supple, generous wine, remarkable for its finesse and highly characteristic of the Pomerol terroir. A second wine, Hospitalet de Gazin, A.O.C. Pomerol, allows the best of the production to be reserved for Château Gazin.
