The estate

In brief

Historians with a passion for history and legends cannot fail to be enthusiastic about the richness of this property in that respect. For special tribute must be paid to the oldest barony in the Médoc. A fortress, it belonged to the King of England during the Hundred Years’ War. Curious legends are attached to these still imposing ruins, among them that of the Dame Douce, dating back to the 10th century, and another that suggests the existence of an underground passage linking the Breuil fortress to the church of Cissac… which has yet to be discovered!
In 1987, the Vialard family purchased Château du Breuil, its vineyard adjoining that of Château Cissac, of which they are also owners. The same care in vine growing, vinification and ageing is applied here to produce very round, charming wines, owing to the importance of old Merlot and old Cabernet Franc vines, which give them a very feminine character.
The Vialard family also runs Château Cissac and Château Tour-du-Mirail in the same commune.
