The Le Temple de Tourteyron estate, now run by Jean-Pierre, Mélissa and Loïc, the third and fourth generations of the Bergey family, has a history that goes back to the Order of the Templars.
Indeed, the name of the estate, found on wine bottles from 1900, originates in the presence of the Templars, who welcomed pilgrims of Saint James of Compostela in the hospital that is now a dwelling house.
The other part of the name, “Tourteyron”, comes from the local dialect word meaning “turtle doves”, indicating a large passage of these now-protected migratory birds, some of which have taken up year-round residence in the farm buildings.
After many changes, the story continues. The farm comprises 130 hectares of land (vines, meadows, woodland), including 20 hectares of vines in the Médoc AOC and a herd of Charolais suckler cows.
