Château de Belcier

Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux • 67 HA

The estate

In brief

Château de Belcier was formerly called “la maison noble de Gensac”; the Belcier family gave it its name in the 18th century, no doubt when they built it to receive the king. He never came, prevented by the Revolution.
In a classical style marked by triangular pediments, Château de Belcier, which dates from the 1780s, overlooks the harmonious landscapes of the commune of Les Salles-de-Castillon, where woods and vineyards alternate.
Sold and bought in succession, it belonged to an old Bordeaux family allied to the Montaignes, and it was only in 1986, with the arrival of Macif, that it regained its former splendour. In the inner courtyard, a gigantic hundred-year-old pine and sumptuous magnolias can once again stand proudly.
The wines of Belcier regularly win medals and are cited in the best guides both in France and internationally.
