The château Capbern-Gasqueton vineyard was originally planted by the Gascq family, landowners in the Médoc and the Graves.
The present name of the growth results from a marriage between a Mademoiselle Gasqueton, from a family of jurists and magistrates, and a notable named Capbern, originally from the Pyrenees. The name Gasqueton is derived from Gascq. In 1894, the Capbern-Gasquetons came into possession of château Calon Ségur.
On 8 November 2012, the company Suravenir, a subsidiary of the Crédit Mutuel Arkéa group, officially became owner of châteaux Calon Ségur and Capbern Gasqueton.
