Château Cap de Mourlin is one of the oldest and most famous vineyards in Saint-Émilion. The Capdemourlin family, who have owned Saint-Émilion for nearly five centuries, have, unusually enough, given their name to the locality where they live, as well as to their vineyard. A sale of wine from this vineyard has been found and dates back to 1647. Farmed separately by two brothers, Jean and Roger Capdemourlin, and then by Jacques Capdemourlin, the vineyard was restored to its former glory in October 1982 under the management of Jacques Capdemourlin, who drew inspiration both from the old traditions that had earned this vineyard its outstanding reputation and from advances in winemaking that enabled him to produce wines of unrivalled quality. Since then, major renovation work has been undertaken, enabling the estate to benefit from cutting-edge winemaking technology and traditional ageing until bottling. Since 2000, one of his sons, Thierry, has become the ambassador for the Capdemourlin vineyards around the world, and in 2021, François will join the estate as Technical Director. The wines of Château Cap de Mourlin have won the highest awards at various exhibitions, both in France and abroad. They are distinguished by their generosity, combined with great finesse and a highly developed bouquet. The Capdemourlin family is committed to improving the quality of the wine, which is constantly improving.
