When Pierre-Bernard Guisez, cousin of Philippe Esquissaud, inherited the estate in 1987, he and his wife devoted an identical passion to the Côtes de Castillon and Saint-Émilion Grand Cru produced on these great terroirs.
He even had an exemplary new cellar and vat room built in 1992 in the commune of Saint-Colombe, the design of which was entrusted to Jean de Gastines and Patrick Dillon, two renowned architects who conceived the famous facilities of Pichon-Longueville Baron in Pauillac.
Silvio Denz became the buyer of Cap de Faugères, at the same time purchasing Péby Faugères and Faugères in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation. In the continuity of the Guisez family, with the help of the team in place, Silvio Denz took up the work undertaken and multiplied it with a great demand for quality. Château Cap de Faugères is thus today among the remarkable growths of its appellation. Robert Parker and many other tasters confirm Château Cap de Faugères as one of the great wines of the Côtes de Castillon.
This is not surprising, because as a man of passion and precision, creator of perfumes, wine lover and owner of Lalique, Silvio Denz applies, like a master of his craft, always the same application and the same attention to detail, whether in his estates (besides those already mentioned, Château de Chambrun in the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation should be mentioned), or as a partner in Château Rocheyron in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation, in Clos d’Agon, a Spanish vineyard (Catalonia), and in Montepeloso in Italy (Tuscany).
