Joachim Haas, a young winegrower who grew up between the Bordeaux region and the Basque country, has a deep love of the land and nature. His passion for plants and vegetation has led him to acquire an intimate knowledge of their secrets, naturally prompting him to turn his passion into his profession. In 2015, he began training in viticulture with some of the most renowned winemakers in the Bordeaux region.
Armed with these new skills and driven by an enterprising spirit, in November 2018 Joachim set his sights on a property in Lansac, where he settled to give birth to Château Bégot. However, the story of Château Bégot is also a family story, as Joachim Haas’s parents and grandparents were involved in his project. And it was his cousin who had the honour of designing the label for the Bégotin cuvée. This property, which has been farmed for several generations, has managed to preserve its old vines, giving Joachim Haas the opportunity to create wines that brilliantly combine tradition and modernity. Joachim invests himself fully in the cultivation of his vines. Passionate about his terroir, this young entrepreneur aspires to let it express itself through wines that are full of character and reflect the typical characteristics of the region. He attaches great importance to preserving and enhancing soil biodiversity, and with this in mind Joachim is gradually introducing organic growing practices. Joachim Haas is deeply attached to his terroir, which is made up of yellow gravel and clay-limestone, and is resolutely committed to sustainable agriculture. This young winegrower devotes all his know-how to creating wines that he wishes to imbue with his own touch of modernity.
