The estate

In brief

The Beaumont vineyard was born in 1824, under the impetus of its owner, Monsieur Bonnin.
His successor, the Marquis d’Aligre, tripled the vineyard’s area in fifteen years. The building was constructed in 1854 by the Bonnin brothers in the Renaissance style. The property then passed to the Comte de Gennes, great-uncle of the 1991 Nobel Prize winner in physics.
Various owners then followed, including a Milanese company, a lieutenant-colonel from Caracas, and a former Venezuelan senator related to Simon Bolivar.
Between 1979 and 1986, Monsieur Bernard Soulas replanted the vineyard and restored the château.
GMF acquired this large estate in 1986 and, three years later, joined forces with the Japanese group Suntory to create the company “Grands Millésimes de France”, the present owner. In 2011, GMF withdrew in favour of the Castel group, which became an equal shareholder with the Suntory group.
The vineyard, in a single block and entirely located on a fine gravel rise, truly deserves the name Beaumont; it is planted with the noblest grape varieties. Its generous wine is distinguished by its fine colour, extreme finesse, suave bouquet and delicacy of taste.
Recent work to replant the vineyard (today 114 hectares) and to renovate and modernise the vat room make it one of the best adapted to the demands of vinification, a model of its kind in the union of technique and the great Médoc tradition.
As early as 2004, Château Beaumont obtained a certificate of compliance with the “Terra Vitis” specifications as well as qualification under sustainable farming, thereby demonstrating its commitment to environmentally friendly viticulture.
Part of the harvest is sold under the Château d’Arvigny brand.
